I Do Not Necessary Believe That Technology Will Level The

I do not necessary believe that technology will level the playing field for students with disabilities. However, I believe that using technology in the classroom has the potential to improve and enhance the learning experiences for students diagnosed with disabilities. Technology is becoming more widely used as an educational tool of learning in special education classrooms as well as general education classrooms. Special education teachers and general education teachers can use technology to help them create engaging learning activities that involve their students and help them obtain the skills outlined in their IEPs, the schools mandated curriculum, and Common Core Standards. Children with disabilities have difficulty obtaining†¦show more content†¦Finally, I believe alternative and augmentative communication devices have the ability to help students with language and communication delays and disabilities communicate with others. Last year, I completed a long-term placement in a third grade classroom. I often utilized the Smartboard to display learning materials. I frequently created Prezis and PowerPoints to present important information to my students. Additionally, I used Go Animate to create animated videos to communicate information. Personally, I am a visual and auditory learner and I found throughout my education I struggled academically. As a result, I try to incorporate a variety of learning strategies and techniques to help a variety of learners throughout my lessons. I found that many students respond to videos, books, and pictures if it is presented on the Smartboard. Furthermore, I found that computers have the capability to improve students’ subject knowledge and facilitate understanding. Through my studies and research, I have found several reading resources that can help students with disabilities access learning material. For example, Bookshare, Tar Heel Reader, Learning Ally, and UDL Book Builder can help struggling readers, students with auditory disabilities, and visual disabilities access written material.
